Review and recommendations
Wandering through the alleys of Fontainhas, many thirsty travellers stumble upon Tea Trunk much to their delight. Housed in a 100-year-old casinha (little house in Portuguese), Tea Trunk brings a passion for carefully crafted teas to the world. Owner Snigdha Manchanda pursued her love for tea all the way to Tea School and a sommelier certification. She crafts small batches of blended tea sourced directly from farmers and sells them worldwide from her online store. Manchanda’s tearoom is an active, dynamic space filled with ongoing classes, workshops, and curated experiences.
At the tearoom, one can try their all-day food menu or book two types of high tea experiences. The Signature High Tea closely resembles an English high tea experience while the second experience bears the stamp of Goan-Portuguese heritage. Cucumber sandwiches are swapped for chicken croquettes; egg and mayo sandwiches for fish cones; and lemon lavender cake for bolo de laranja (Portuguese orange Bundt cake). Chamomile cupcakes, earl grey shortbread, brioche French toast, quiche, chicken croissant sandwiches and Asian slaw are some of the ala carte offerings done in style. Cool down from a hot summer day on the streets of Panjim with an iced blue matcha lemonade or an iced hibiscus tea. If you’re feeling adventurous, warm concoctions such as marigold green tea and a salted caramel rose latte await.
