Review and recommendations
Taking dining in Goa to the next level is relatively new entrant, Petisco. Petisco, the Portuguese word for small plates, brings together the international experience of head chef Halton Dsouza and the creativity of Pranav Dhuri, of the youngest generation behind Café Tato. This three-storey gastro-bar is stylish and contemporary, themes that run through the creative food and cocktails on offer. A vibrant bar scene on the weekends is fuelled by live music at the basement level.
Inspiration is taken from Goan classics and mixed with a host of other influences to produce dishes such as prawns a la plancha – prawns in chilli olive oil and garlic with a seafood bisque, pickled bimbli and toasted poie; pan-fried mackerel in a tirphal-infused beurre blanc and a shaved fennel salad; pulled pork sandwich with sour tendli; the Goan croquette reinvented with chicken and cheddar, dressed with a green apple remoulade. French techniques, dashes of the Mediterranean and Goan ingredients all in one small plate. Regulars rave about the fried chicken and the chocolate bar for dessert. Impeccable service weaves together a creative dining and drinking experience.
