Review and recommendations
Started by Keshav Dhuri in 1913, this café was first named Hindu Uphar Graha. Known by fellow neighbourhood residents as ‘Uncle’ or tato in Konkani, Dhuri decided the café take on this name instead. The third generation of the family runs Tato’s today; it commands a loyal base of regulars across three outlets in Panjim, Vasco and Margao.
Prompt and friendly servers bring out plates of sukhi puri bhaji, alsande bhaji and patal bhaji – signature Goan breakfast dishes. Their patal bhaaji is a hit and they tend to run out of it quickly. Also popular are the mirchi pakoras, samosas and chana masala – all Goan style. They serve lunch and dinner too.
