FAQ’s
- Is the Chorao Island experience a heritage walk?
Chorao Island is too vast for us to cover on foot, and so we will use vehicles (cars/two-wheelers) to move around the island. The idea is to really take our time exploring each place we visit on the island, and the vehicles will help us reach the far ends of the island easier and quicker. - Can we bring our own vehicle for the experience?
Yes, we recommend that you bring your own vehicle for the experience. - How do we reach the meeting point at the Ferry Terminal?
The location link will be sent to your mobile along with the details of the experience and the name and contact number of your storyteller. - Is there parking space?
Yes. There is ample parking space at the meeting point. - Is photography permitted?
Yes, photography is permitted on Charao Island. However, while doing so travellers must take care not to trespass on private property, respect the privacy of local residents and avoid blocking roads/pathways. - How will we reach Chorao Island from the Ferry Terminal?
We will take a Government-run commuting ferry boat service which is used by the local island residents and departs every 5 – 10 minutes. You will board the ferry with your vehicle (car/two-wheeler). - Is it safe to take our vehicles on to the ferry boat?
Absolutely. However, if this is a new experience for you – here are some handy tips: (i) We recommend asking the pillion rider (in case of two-wheelers) / fellow passengers (in case of cars) to walk onto the ferry boat. This will make your vehicle lighter and easier to drive onto the ferry ramp; (ii) For cars, we would advise driving on to the ferry ramp as slowly as possible – using brakes constantly as the wheels touch the ramp surface, and then gently releasing the brakes to ascend into the ferry boat. - Can we consume beer / other alcoholic drinks during the experience?
No. It is not recommended to consume alcohol during the experience as we will be visiting holy/religious sites. However, as we end our experience with Breakfast / High tea hosted at a local farm. Alternatively, you can book our Feni & Tapas Experience for a more immersive experience on local Goan cocktails and cuisine. - Are washrooms available?
Washrooms are available at the Indo-Portuguese home we will visit at the end of the experience. - How long is the experience?
The experience typically lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, including the farm lunch. - Is the experience suitable for children?
Yes, children enjoy the nature and cultural elements of the experience, though supervision is required. - Do I need to be physically fit?
A moderate level of mobility is sufficient. The experience involves light walking on natural terrain. - What should I wear/bring?
Comfortable footwear, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle. - Is transportation included?
No, transportation is not included but can be arranged at an extra cost if required provided we are informed 48 hours prior to the start of the experience. - Is the breakfast vegetarian?
Lunch is largely Goan, homemade, and farm-fresh, with options available on request. - Will we see wildlife?
Chorao is home to diverse birdlife and mangroves, so natural sightings may occur, though they are not guaranteed.
