Chronicles & Echoes of Divar Island (With Breakfast / High Tea)
About the experience
Catch the ferry across the Mandovi river to the quaint Divar Island, and experience a day in the life of a local Islander. Despite its proximity to Goa’s capital city Panjim, the local community of Divar Island has resisted urbanisation and successfully preserved their rich heritage and unique lifestyle. Enjoy a rare change of pace, as the Island’s blissful tranquility and lush surroundings leave you feeling rejuvenated by the time you head home.
Special Note:
This experience is not a walking trail and requires transportation. Explore the Island using your own vehicle or transport mode arranged at your end.

FAQ’s
- Is the Divar Island experience a heritage walk?
Divar Island is too vast for us to cover on foot, and so we will use vehicles (cars/two-wheelers) to move around the island. The idea is to really take our time exploring each place we visit on the island, and the vehicles will help us reach the far ends of the island easier and quicker. - Can we bring our own vehicle for the experience?
Yes, we recommend that you bring your own vehicle for the experience. - How do we reach the meeting point at the Ferry Terminal?
The location link will be sent to your mobile along with the details of the experience and the name and contact number of your storyteller. - Is there parking space?
Yes. There is ample parking space at the meeting point. - Is photography permitted?
Yes, photography is permitted on Divar Island. However, while doing so travellers must take care not to trespass on private property, respect the privacy of local residents and avoid blocking roads/pathways. Photography & videography is strictly prohibited at the Our Lady of Piety (Piedade) Church premises (facade included). - How will we reach Divar Island from the Ferry Terminal?
We will take a Government-run commuting ferry boat service which is used by the local island residents and departs every 5 minutes. You will board the ferry with your vehicle (car/two-wheeler). - Is it safe to take our vehicles on to the ferry boat?
Absolutely. However, if this is a new experience for you – here are some handy tips: (i) We recommend asking the pillion rider (in case of two-wheelers) / fellow passengers (in case of cars) to walk onto the boat. This will make your vehicle lighter and easier to drive onto the ferry ramp; (ii) For cars, we would advise driving on to the ferry ramp as slowly as possible – using brakes constantly as the wheels touch the ramp surface, and then gently releasing the brakes to ascend into the ferry boat. - Can we consume beer / other alcoholic drinks during the experience?
No. It is not recommended to consume alcohol during the experience as we will be visiting holy/religious sites. However, as we end our experience with lunch hosted at a local Indo-Portuguese home, on special request we could arrange for some beers or a tasting of the local brew Feni (at an added cost). Alternatively, you can book our Goan Feni & Tapas Experience for a more immersive experience on local Goan cocktails and cuisine. - Do we need to wear face masks?
It is mandatory to wear face masks, use sanitizers and maintain social distancing in all public spaces. - Are Covid-19 protocols followed during the heritage walk?
All Covid-19 safety precautions will be taken by us. Our Storytellers are all double vaccinated, wear face masks, maintain social distance and avoid physical contact. All enclosed spaces will be sanitized by us. - Are washrooms available?
Washrooms are available at the Indo-Portuguese home we will visit at the end of the experience.

Our Storytellers
Our experiences are led by passionate, professional, English-speaking local storytellers.
She was very informative and good company. We had a great time with her!
The cocktails were all very yummy and sweet. Our favourite one was the signature cocktail in Kokum Curry and all of the dishes were delicious, but the pork roast in Welcom Heritage Panjim was just a cut above.
Thank you. Highly recommend!
A The our full of history and delicious sweets and amazing local drink and music.
I strongly recommend this agency and Hinaz.
We are history buffs who love understanding cultural context. We were hooked on every word.
The tour was highly interactive and made us feel part of the story of Fontainhas.
She was very considerate, often pausing to let us take photos and even helping us capture some great moments.
Her hospitality was exceptional, with visits to quaint cafés, bakeries, and eateries, where she treated us to some of the best local delicacies, offering us a taste of history in the most literal sense.
The highlight of the tour was a musical performance organised exclusively for us, with a talent young lady singing songs in Konkani, Portuguese, and Spanish on a ukulele.
It's a must-do for anyone wanting to connect with the roots of the city.
Hinaz showed us the portuguese quarter with a lot of interesting information, typical sweets and meeting an elderly Goan Gentleman, who played local folksongs for us. It was lovely!
Sejal did the Feni and Tapas Tour with us and it was just a good time, with a lot of laughs and sooo good food and Feni.
Shiv showed us Port Agua and we completed our picture of Goan History in this region of Goa.
The tours were so rich in information and at the same time light and fun. Thank you!
