Review and recommendations
Originally famed for its vegan desserts, Okapi is more than just a café in Moira. Run by multi-talented friends, Aarti Sinha and Mahi Baid, the café has a limited but well-executed menu with a catering facility. It also serves as a third space for residents, organising community dinners once a month and hosting a farmer’s market on its premises on the second and fourth Saturday of the month from 12-4 pm. People rave about the desserts – banoffee pie, coconut fudge cups, all kinds of tarts, dark chocolate cake and a boozy chocolate orange cake. There is a small menu with specialties like jackfruit poppers, sabudana vada, a grazing board, sandwiches, and salads. French toast made with jaggery and served with different toppings is popular here as are the enchiladas. It’s best to check out their meal of the day as the kitchen cooks up something new and fresh daily based on local ingredients.
